Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy (ADMA) and Bahrain Polytechnic have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation in maritime education, training, and applied research, as both institutions look to strengthen the regional talent pipeline.
The agreement was signed by Dr Yasser Al Wahedi, President of Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy, and Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, with senior officials from both sides in attendance.
Under the MoU, the two institutions will jointly develop and deliver training programmes, coordinate train-the-trainer initiatives, and organise industry-facing events and conferences.
A cadetship scheme will offer Bahrain Polytechnic students and graduates access to internship and work-placement opportunities in the maritime sector.

The partnership also targets applied research across marine engineering, maritime security, logistics, and emerging technologies, with a focus on closing the gap between academic learning and the practical demands of the maritime industry.
Dr Yasser Al Wahedi said: “This partnership reflects Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy’s commitment to advancing applied education and fostering innovation through regional collaboration. By aligning academic excellence with industry needs, we are enabling the next generation of maritime and technology pioneers.”
Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin said the MoU aligns with Bahrain Polytechnic’s Strategic Plan 2026–2029, which prioritises applied education, international partnerships, and labour market readiness through the integration of academic and practical learning.
