BMT has opened its new Digital Innovation & Simulation Centre (DISC) at Fareham, offering integrated simulation and digital tools to test maritime operations, train crews, and assess autonomous systems.
The facility brings together maritime simulation, digital visualisation, and synthetic environments to support testing, training, and scenario analysis for complex maritime and multi-domain programmes.
DISC features the REMBRANDT navigation simulator, a reconfigurable Full Mission Bridge, 360-degree pod simulators, small-vessel simulators, a Remote Operations Centre, a Scenario Control Room, and a large LED video wall for multi-vessel and port operations.
The centre also hosts the Marine Autonomous Surface Ship Synthetic Environment Assurance System (MASS SEAS), enabling simulator-based trials of autonomous navigation systems and testing compliance with emerging MASS and COLREGs standards.
BMT ENGAGE provides digital twin creation, virtual ship walkthroughs, VR/AR training, and cyber and wargaming scenario simulation.

Sarah Kenny, BMT CEO, said: “DISC allows customers to test complex scenarios and make decisions while reducing risk and time to market.”
Jake Rigby, Global Head of Innovation, added: “DISC is a launchpad for innovation, bringing REMBRANDT, ENGAGE, and synthetic assurance together so partners can build trusted autonomous and digital solutions.”
The centre supports in-person and remote collaboration and forms part of BMT’s UK–Europe strategy. A press day on 13 March will allow media to view and experience the simulation and visualisation facilities.
