CMA CGM strengthens supply chain via Fattal buy
CMA CGM Group has agreed to acquire 100 per cent of Fattal Group, in a deal that further advances the carrier’s expansion across the global logistics value chain.

The transaction, agreed with the shareholders of Fattal Group, is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to complete in Q3 2026.

The move strengthens CMA CGM Group’s position beyond maritime transport, extending its reach further into inland distribution networks and end-market supply chains.

By integrating Fattal Group’s established distribution platform, the company is expected to improve cargo flows between ports, terminals, and final delivery points, particularly across fast-growing Middle East and North Africa (MENA) markets.

For shipping lines and terminal operators, the acquisition underscores continued vertical integration across the sector, with implications for cargo routing, hinterland connectivity, and supply chain visibility.

The deal also reflects a wider industry shift, with carriers increasingly investing in landside logistics capabilities to secure volumes and optimise end-to-end supply chain control.

Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and CEO of CMA CGM Group, said: “This acquisition represents a key milestone in our ambition to become a global leader in end-to-end logistics and supply chain solutions. By integrating Fattal’s strong distribution platform, we are expanding our capabilities downstream, closer to end markets and consumers. This transaction also reflects our continued confidence in Lebanon and our commitment to supporting its long-term development.”

Caroline Fattal, Chairwoman of Fattal Group, added: “After 130 years of continued stewardship, the Fattal shareholders have made the decision to entrust the future of the Fattal Group to CMA CGM Group as they are confident that it will continue to build on the success of the Group and stay true to its mission to add value and ensure the long-term strength and success of the Group, its people, its suppliers and the communities it serves.”
