CYTUR Inc., a South Korean maritime cybersecurity specialist, has closed a Series A round worth KRW 5.2 billion ($3.4 million), following a Pre-A round in 2024.
The rise comes as international ship cybersecurity rules tighten and smart and autonomous vessels proliferate, driving demand for cyber protection across naval MRO and defence supply chains.
CYTUR provides threat modelling, risk analysis and compliance documentation spanning a vessel’s design, construction and operation, and is now expanding into naval and defence markets.
Investors included Sunbo Angel Partners (Sunbo Group), STIC Ventures and Jones & Rocket, with Sunbo Angel Partners returning as a follow-on backer. Proceeds will fund hiring, product development, and expansion into the US, Japan and Singapore.
CYTUR’s threat modelling technology has been designated an Innovative Product by Korea’s Public Procurement Service and named an Excellent Information Security Product for 2026 by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), which also selected the firm for a cybersecurity scale-up programme.

Commercially, CYTUR has signed contracts covering several dozen vessels through Rakuten Maritime, the maritime cybersecurity brand of Rakuten Group, focused on design-stage threat modelling aligned with incoming IACS UR E26 and E27 rules.
It is now applying the same capabilities to naval platforms, where interconnected systems raise the stakes for supply-chain security.
The company presented case studies at the MTS-ISAC Maritime Cyber Resilience Summit in Florida, attended by representatives of the US Coast Guard, and points to the US shipbuilding revival as an opening for Korean firms entering the market.
It has also joined investor events in Tokyo and a startup roadshow in Busan involving Singapore’s PIER71 accelerator.
Jo Yong-hyun, CEO of CYTUR, said: “This Series A round, together with our government product certification, selection for the cybersecurity scale-up program, and commercial-fleet wins, shows that CYTUR has moved beyond technology validation into full-scale market expansion.
“Going forward, we will pursue opportunities across commercial ship cybersecurity, naval MRO, defense cybersecurity, and shipbuilding and maritime markets in the US, Singapore, and Europe to grow into Asia’s representative maritime cybersecurity company.”
