Fukui Seisakusho Co., Ltd. and ClassNK have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly study ultra-high pressure safety relief valves for hydrogen dual-fuel engines.
The agreement was formalised during the Gastech 2025 exhibition in Milan, Italy.
The initiative builds on a 2023 collaboration focused on safety relief valves for liquefied hydrogen cargo tanks.
That study led to ClassNK issuing a type approval certificate for Fukui’s PILOT-type low-pressure safety relief valve (PSL-MD type) in 2025.

The new MoU will explore valve technologies meeting the specific demands of hydrogen fuel systems, including resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and high sealing performance.
Each party will contribute technical expertise and conduct evaluations to support the development of safety components for next-generation hydrogen propulsion systems.
