Hapag-Lloyd and Kuehne+Nagel have expanded their long-standing partnership to include emission-reduced ocean freight solutions.
The logistics provider will adopt Hapag-Lloyd’s Ship Green product to lower transport emissions across selected shipments.
The initiative will cover around 3,300 TEUs on the East Asia–North Europe trade lane between April and December 2026, using certified waste- and residue-based biofuels expected to reduce approximately 2,979 tonnes of CO₂e on a well-to-wake basis.
The agreement also marks the first targeted collaboration between the two companies focused specifically on emission-reduced ocean transport solutions, structured around a book-and-claim system that allows emissions reductions to be allocated independently of physical fuel use.

Under this model, verified reductions linked to biofuel consumed on Hapag-Lloyd-operated vessels are attributed to Kuehne+Nagel, supporting scalable deployment of alternative fuels without requiring direct shipment-level allocation.
