Hapag-Lloyd, Ocean Network Express (ONE), and A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk) have all implemented precautionary measures amid rising Middle East tensions following the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Hapag-Lloyd has suspended transits through the waterway, citing safety and regulatory concerns, and is liaising with authorities and security partners as it monitors the situation.
Services calling at Arabian Gulf ports may face delays, rerouting, or schedule changes, with shippers advised to contact local Hapag-Lloyd offices for guidance.
ONE has temporarily halted new bookings to and from the Persian Gulf, assessing cargo in transit on a voyage-by-voyage basis, while Maersk has paused Trans-Suez sailings through Bab el-Mandeb and rerouted ME11 and MECL services via the Cape of Good Hope.
All three carriers emphasise crew, vessel, and cargo safety as their priority, continuing to monitor conditions closely.
These measures underscore the operational risks in the region, as carriers adapt to volatile conditions to maintain service continuity and minimise disruption to global supply chains.
