Hyundai delivers advanced LNG carrier to France LNG
France LNG Shipping SAS has taken delivery of the new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Elisa Halcyon from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in Korea, marking the latest addition to its modern LNG fleet.

The vessel will be chartered for up to 20 years to EDF LNG Shipping SAS for LNG transport and managed by Gazocean.

Elisa Halcyon is equipped with a high-efficiency, dual-fuel slow-speed diesel engine manufactured by WinGD, capable of operating on both fuel oil and boil-off gas (natural gas vaporised during transport).

The vessel also includes a membrane-type cargo tank with a capacity of approximately 174,000 cubic metres and advanced insulation to minimise boil-off.

In addition, it features a re-liquefaction system developed by Air Liquide that converts surplus boil-off gas back into liquid form, improving efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

The vessel measures approximately 297.2 metres in length and 46.4 metres in breadth.

It is powered by an X-DF diesel engine, has a cargo capacity of about 174,000 cubic metres, was built by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., and is registered in France.

France LNG Shipping SAS is a French ship-owning company jointly funded by Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and Geogas LNG SAS, part of the Geogas Group with over 40 years of experience in LNG vessel ownership and transportation.

EDF LNG Shipping SAS is a subsidiary of EDF responsible for LNG transport, while Gazocean — a French ship-management company jointly owned by NYK and Geogas LNG — will manage the vessel.

Last month, NYK signed a long-term time-charter agreement for an offshore wind crew transfer vessel (CTV) with Oga Katagami Akita Offshore Green Energy LLC, a joint venture formed by JERA Nex bp Japan LLC, Electric Power Development Co., Ltd., Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc., and Itochu Corporation.
