ICHCA opens entries for 2025 Safety Innovation awards
ICHCA International, in partnership with long-time sponsor TT Club, has officially opened submissions for the 2025 Innovation in Safety Awards.

The awards are designed to highlight groundbreaking ideas within the cargo handling and logistics industry.

Now in their 10th year, they showcase how companies and individuals are working to raise safety standards through innovative solutions, technologies, and management strategies.

The call is open to individuals, teams, organisations, and suppliers that can demonstrate proven improvements in safety performance. Submissions must be completed by 14 November 2025, with winners across four categories revealed at a ceremony in London in February 2026.

Richard Steele, CEO of ICHCA, said: “We have always believed that all our innovators who put forward their initiatives deserve recognition and praise; not just those that eventually achieve highly commended or winner status.

“As such, we will use our Membership support and widespread industry coverage to help share all our entrants ideas throughout the coming year in line with our avowed policy of shared knowledge and cooperation among cargo handlers worldwide.”

Past winners represent both major industry bodies and smaller-scale projects. Previous awardees have ranged from the International Transport Workers’ Federation and ITF Seafarers’ Trust to APM Terminals, Cargotec, and specialised innovations such as Viking Hydro-Pen, Cargo Patrol by Hapag-Lloyd, and Ram Spreaders.

Mike Yarwood, TT Club’s Managing Director of Loss Prevention, emphasised the real-world value of the awards: “At TT Club, we’ve seen first-hand the real impact innovation can have on safety in cargo handling.

“Many past award entrants have gone on to make tangible improvements to on-site safety. I’m once again excited to see the new entries we’ll receive this year—knowing that any one of them could represent the next big leap in protecting workers.”

ICHCA and TT Club noted that the awards recognise not only large-scale technological progress but also straightforward, practical ideas that improve everyday operations. By highlighting both, the initiative supports ongoing safety improvements across the global cargo handling sector.

Steele concluded: “We are pleased to have the opportunity to spotlight the passion and creativity of our safety innovators no matter their size or available resource. Every year we speak to people who have genuinely innovated, but just see it as part of their job.

“We urge all those who have made positive changes to the way they do safety to enter this year’s Award to help spread the good news.”
