Korean Register (KR) has launched Version 24 of KR-CON, its digital database of international maritime conventions.
The upgrade integrates AI-based search functions and a restructured classification system to improve the speed and accuracy of retrieving regulatory information for SOLAS, MARPOL, and other International Maritime Organization (IMO) instruments.
The ‘Convention Today’ menu now allows users to identify applicable conventions by entry-into-force date, with expanded search filters and clearer display of amendments and update histories.
The platform incorporates changes from key IMO meetings in 2025, including the 34th IMO Assembly, the 110th session of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), and the 83rd session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC). Newly adopted instruments will be added as they become available.

KR-CON Version 24 is available on web, mobile, USB, and web-installed formats, providing access to conventions, codes, resolutions, and circulars.
It is designed to help shipowners, operators, and maritime stakeholders manage compliance with an increasing volume of regulatory changes.
KIM Hoijun, General Manager, Convention & Legislation Service, KR, said: “The next step will involve implementing Agentic RAG (Agentic Retrieval-Augmented Generation), an AI-based system that retrieves external data and generates responses to further streamline regulatory verification.”
