Lloyd’s Register (LR) Advisory has been appointed as the Technical Support Unit (TSU) to India’s Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping), helping drive a more sustainable, digitally enabled maritime sector.
The TSU will assess existing regulatory and governance frameworks, identify gaps against international standards, and recommend targeted policy and regulatory reforms.
It will also support the development of the Green Port Index, advise on India’s Integrated Shipping Policy, and contribute to frameworks for onshore power supply, green shipbuilding, and recycling practices.
The initiative forms part of India’s wider strategy to build cleaner, more efficient, and globally competitive ports and shipping networks, combining decarbonisation and digital transformation.
