A.P. Moller-Maersk will take over management of import, export, and transhipment cargo destruction in Spain, aiming to streamline supply chain operations and strengthen oversight.
The company will handle all aspects of destruction, including certified disposal, ensuring compliance with technical, environmental, and safety regulations.
The rollout will be staged: 15 March 2026 for non-FMC countries, followed by 15 April 2026 for FMC-regulated markets.

Costs will depend on product type, volume, weight, and condition, assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Maersk says the move will improve traceability and control of cargo destruction, while reducing container idle time and optimising equipment utilisation across ports and logistics networks.
As part of its integrated import solutions, customers need only submit delivery details and instructions, with Maersk managing the destruction process and all associated documentation.
