A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk) has bolstered its presence in Colombia with a new 44,000-square-metre container logistics centre in Tocancipa.
The logistics centre is located in the Tocancipa industrial zone, 47 kilometres north of Bogotá.
According to Maersk, its strategic location helps to reduce additional port and transport costs, enhances supply chain reliability, and eliminates waiting times. The centre reportedly ensures the availability of empty containers to optimise operational efficiency and improve demand responsiveness.

The facility features a 3,378 square metres depot, a 23,000 square metres container storage area, and a 651 square metres refrigerated container storage area with connectivity for 50 containers. It can handle up to 1,600 containers and is equipped with a depot management system.
Services offered include container unloading and loading, cargo handling, and full container storage, with reach stackers available on site.
Additional services encompass the storage of empty and full containers, consolidation and deconsolidation, maintenance, repair, preparation, and inspection of containers, as well as container return and movement.

“This is an innovative service for the Colombian market, due to its level of infrastructure and service, which will allow our customers in the country greater logistical flexibility,” said Efrain Osorio, Managing Director for Central America, Andean and the Caribbean at Maersk.
“For us, Colombia remains a high-growth country with increasing import demand for consumer products, complemented by steady exports of refrigerated fruits and vegetables, food products, textiles, and consumer goods.”
In line with Maersk’s commitment to decarbonising end-to-end supply chains, the Tocancipa logistics centre features sustainable practices such as LED and solar perimeter lighting, fully paved container yards, and the reuse of excavated material during construction.
Last month, the Danish giant unveiled a dedicated cross-dock warehouse in Rotterdam at the Maasvlakte II terminal.
