MITSUI E&S Co., Ltd. has achieved a major milestone with the cumulative shipment of 500 units of its hallmark quay container crane, the MITSUI-PACECO Portainer®.
The landmark 500th crane is set to be delivered to Phuoc An Port in Vietnam, reinforcing the company’s growing presence in global infrastructure.
The company began developing container cranes in 1961 through a technical collaboration with PACECO Inc., a US pioneer in container crane innovation.
In 1967, MITSUI E&S delivered Japan’s first quay container crane to Maya Pier in Kobe, marking the start of a decades-long contribution to global container logistics.
Since then, the company has supplied cranes to more than 200 terminals in 30 countries.

Beyond quay cranes, MITSUI E&S has also led advances in eco-friendly equipment, including the MITSUI-PACECO Transtainer®. The company has introduced electric, hybrid, and recently, a zero-emission hydrogen-powered model to support decarbonisation in the port sector.
MITSUI E&S is further investing in remote automation technologies to boost operational efficiency and safety across terminal operations.
