The methanol dual-fuel bulk carrier Green Future, chartered from Kambara Kisen Co., Ltd. by NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers Ltd. (an NYK Group company), completed a methanol bunkering operation at Ulsan Port, South Korea.
The low-carbon methanol was transferred via ship-to-ship using a dedicated bunkering vessel.
The supplied methanol was produced using the mass balance method, which assigns environmental benefits to the fuel’s production process by utilising renewable raw materials such as renewable natural gas and green hydrogen.
This approach substantially aids in reducing GHG emissions.

The fuel holds ISCC EU certification, an internationally recognised standard that ensures sustainability, traceability, and transparency throughout the biomass and biofuel supply chain.
This operation underscores the NYK Group’s ongoing commitment to fleet decarbonisation and the promotion of clean maritime transportation through the adoption of diverse low-carbon and decarbonised fuels, including low-carbon methanol.
