Keihin Dock Co., Ltd., a Group company of Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK), has had its business infrastructure strengthening plan approved by Japan’s Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) under the country’s recently amended maritime law aimed at supporting the maritime industry.
MLIT’s certification system is designed to boost the competitiveness of Japan’s shipbuilding and maritime sectors, reform seafarers’ working practices, and improve productivity in coastal shipping.
Certification provides access to economic support measures, including up to five years of tax incentives, financial assistance, and subsidies.
Keihin Dock’s approved plan targets operational reforms to better meet diverse customer demands while improving internal efficiency.
It establishes two main objectives: moving beyond reactive measures during construction, and creating business processes that identify productivity barriers early and develop pre-emptive production plans and work instructions.

The company has outlined improvement measures covering order acceptance and scheduling logic, work instruction and management systems, and operational methods, to be implemented companywide with consideration for co-creation with partners.
Separately, Keihin Dock was selected by MLIT for a subsidy programme supporting its digital transformation (DX) project, submitted jointly with Fluid Techno Co., Ltd. in June 2025.
The project aligns with the government’s “Shipbuilding Industry Revitalization Roadmap” and related support policies, representing a step toward strengthening Japan’s maritime cluster. Keihin Dock intends to use the plan to guide future business development.
In December 2025, NYK Bulkship (Asia) Pte. Ltd., part of the NYK Group in Singapore, signed two heads of agreement with JERA Co., Inc. for time-charter contracts covering ammonia carriers.
