The NYK Group has delivered the LNG carrier Al Zuwair, the first of 12 vessels being built for QatarEnergy by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).
This vessel will serve under a time-charter agreement with QatarEnergy, a leading global LNG supplier.
Al Zuwair is the third ship in the series commissioned by a joint venture including NYK, “K” Line, MISC Berhad, and China LNG Shipping, and the first to be completed at HHI’s Ulsan yard.

This delivery also marks NYK’s initial role providing ship-management services for the joint venture.
The carrier is powered by two X-DF 2.1 iCER dual-fuel engines, capable of using both fuel oil and boil-off gas.
Additional systems include an air lubrication setup and a reliquefaction unit, designed to improve fuel economy and lower GHG emissions.
