SAAM has announced the complete acquisition of Intertug’s Colombian and Mexican operations, securing the final 30 per cent stake for an investment of $30.5 million.
This decisive step gives SAAM 100 per cent ownership and furthers the company’s strategy to strengthen its position as the leading towage provider across the Americas.
Previously, SAAM held a 70 per cent interest in Intertug, a move that marked the firm’s entry into Colombia’s towage market in 2021 and expanded its reach within Mexico.
The company expects the transaction to be finalised in most cases within 30 days, pending regulatory approval for one specific Mexican subsidiary.

SAAM Towage now boasts a fleet exceeding 200 tugboats operating in over 100 ports throughout the region.
These vessels perform upwards of 150,000 manoeuvres annually, delivering critical support to a variety of ships including container vessels, RoRo carriers, tankers, LNG carriers and bulk carriers.
SAAM’s fleet also plays a vital part in offshore exploration activities and the dynamic natural gas terminal segment.
“This deal represents an investment of $30.5 million and is part of SAAM’s strategy to further consolidate its towage operations and strengthen its leadership in both countries,” the company confirmed in its announcement.
