SAAM Towage has been awarded the “Carbon Footprint Reduction” certification (Level 3) by Panama’s Ministry of the Environment.
The certification is part of the national “Reduce Your Corporate Carbon Footprint” programme aimed at cutting emissions across the country’s private sector.
The award certifies measurable reductions in the company’s towing operations during 2024 and 2025, with Level 3 status requiring companies to measure emissions and implement specific mitigation actions.
Matia de Luiggi, Central America Cluster Manager for SAAM Towage, said the recognition underscored the company’s efforts to embed sustainability across its operations.
“This recognition highlights our commitment to responsibly managing greenhouse gas emissions and to developing increasingly sustainable operations.
Our teams are committed to integrating sustainability into our operations and creating value for the environment, local communities and our customers,” she said.

The programme is led by Panama’s Ministry of the Environment with backing from international bodies including the UNDP and the IDB, and forms part of the country’s broader push to measure, reduce and offset private sector emissions on the path to carbon neutrality.
