SpecTec, a global maritime technology provider, has unveiled AMOS-X, its latest platform for integrated fleet asset management.
The company said the software combines Maintenance, Inventory and Procurement functions within a single system, aiming to support shipowners, operators and managers in raising efficiency, reducing costs and improving safety.
With more than 40 years in the maritime sector, SpecTec describes itself as the founder of asset management software for shipping.
The launch of AMOS-X marks what the firm views as a milestone in aligning digital tools with the day-to-day challenges of shipping, particularly amid rising operational risks linked to a globally ageing fleet.
The AMOS-X system is centred around three main components:
- Maintenance: Designed to schedule and record planned maintenance, respond to unplanned issues, and track equipment health to predict and avoid failures.
- Inventory: Offers visibility of spares and consumables across both vessels and onshore sites.
- Procurement: Streamlines the purchasing process, from requisition through to supplier management.
SpecTec confirmed that additional modules, including Quality & Safety, are under development and will be added in due course.
The company reports that AMOS-X has demonstrated measurable performance improvements. Preventative maintenance is said to cut downtime and related costs by 15 per cent, while automation is claimed to enhance crew efficiency by 30 per cent.
According to SpecTec, annual savings per vessel can reach $30,000, with audit preparation time reduced by half. The system is designed to deliver a return on investment within a year.

AMOS-X has been developed to support vessels and crews of all sizes. It can be integrated into existing IT systems, deployed through the Cloud, or operated via a hybrid model, providing flexibility to match different strategies.
SpecTec stated that the software is scalable and simple to implement, giving faster access to data and improving decision-making processes.
Adam Dennett, CEO of SpecTec, commented: “AMOS-X reflects our continued focus on providing solutions that bring clarity and control to maritime operations and help customers meet the everyday demands and pressures of efficiently, safely and sustainably running their vessels.
There are far more complexities in today’s market, and the age of the global fleet is the oldest it has been for 40 years, which is having a significant impact on the efficiency and safety of vessels and crews. These are real challenges, which demand real-world solutions.”
SpecTec said the launch of AMOS-X is part of its ongoing innovation programme, with 25 per cent of annual operating profit invested in research and development.
The company operates as part of Volaris, within Constellation Software Inc., a global provider of sector-specific software solutions.
