Stena RoRo AB has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for up to six C-Flexer RoRo cargo vessels, marking a strategic investment in a segment that the company says has seen “underinvestment for a long time”.
The agreement with China Merchants Industry Weihai covers an initial order for two vessels, with options for a further 2+2 ships.
The new C-Flexer class is based on Stena RoRo’s experience with its E-Flexer and NewMax series. The design features a streamlined, energy‑efficient hull, engines adaptable to future alternative fuels, and a scalable hybrid‑battery system to support improved environmental performance.
“These ships will be built for today and designed for tomorrow,” said Per Westling, CEO of Stena RoRo AB.

Each C-Flexer will have a length of 200 metres, draught of 7.3 metres, and beam options of 28 or 31 metres. Capacity will vary depending on design configuration: the three‑deck version will offer between 3,000 and 3,400 lane metres, while the four‑deck version will carry between 4,100 and 4,700 lane metres.
The ship’s maximum speed is expected to reach 21 knots.
Founded in 1977, Stena RoRo has developed and operated a wide portfolio of RoRo and RoPax vessels across the world. The company currently manages around 15 vessels, chartered to operators including other Stena Group companies and external partners.
