WinGD has secured an order to supply main engines for 12 Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) being built at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China for Dynacom.
Each of the 12 vessels will be powered by a WinGD 6X82-2.0 low-speed engine, fitted with a scrubber and high-pressure selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems to meet current International Maritime Organization emissions requirements while maintaining high operational efficiency.
The order lands amid strong momentum in the VLCC sector, with owners investing heavily in modern vessels to boost efficiency and long-term performance as they work to renew an ageing global tanker fleet with more fuel-efficient tonnage.
