WiseTech joins DCSA+ to advance shipping standards
The Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA) has announced that WiseTech Global has joined its DCSA+ partnership programme.

WiseTech, a major developer of logistics execution software and supply chain technology, including CargoWise and e2open, is widely embedded across global logistics networks, supporting 46 of the top 50 third-party logistics providers and 23 of the 25 largest freight forwarders worldwide.

Positioned at the operational core of container shipping workflows, its platforms manage documentation, compliance, financial processes and data exchange across end-to-end cargo movements.

The container shipping chain remains highly fragmented, with shipments passing through shippers, freight forwarders, inland carriers, ports, ocean carriers, customs authorities and consignees.

Each handover depends on timely, accurate and consistently structured data. In practice, however, this information is often handled through a patchwork of proprietary systems, bespoke integrations and manual processes, introducing inefficiencies, delays and errors.

DCSA’s standards seek to address this at source by defining common data models and open APIs across key processes, including bookings, shipment instructions, bills of lading, track and trace, IoT-enabled container visibility, vessel schedules, customs documentation and freight invoicing.

The objective is full interoperability, where data is entered once and shared seamlessly across all stakeholders without re-keying or reconciliation.

DCSA+ extends this model by bringing carriers, technology providers, cargo owners, forwarders, feeders and terminals into the standards development process.

Partners gain early visibility of emerging standards, implementation support and direct input into ensuring standards are operationally viable at scale.

WiseTech has been an early and active adopter of DCSA standards since 2019, developing extensive use of carrier application programming interfaces (APIs) built on the specifications.

That experience across global carrier-forwarder networks provides practical insight into where standards perform effectively and where integration gaps persist.

As a DCSA+ partner, WiseTech will feed this operational experience directly into the standards development cycle, helping ensure outputs are aligned with real-world system requirements.

Integration of these standards into widely used platforms such as CargoWise and INTTRA also helps extend consistent data practices to smaller market participants, effectively raising baseline capability across the sector.

Ashley Skaanild, Principal Advisor, Carrier Integration and Transformation at WiseTech Global, said: “Managing and monitoring logistics flows across the globe relies on clean and complete data. Standardised integrations help our customers and their carrier partners to achieve their goals faster and more effectively by removing friction at critical data handover points. As one of the earliest adopters of the DCSA standards in 2019, WiseTech extensively uses carrier Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) based on the DCSA standards.”

Mariana Bock-Losada, Chief Growth Officer, Digital Container Shipping Association, added: “Standards create value through widespread adoption, and welcoming WiseTech into DCSA+ is an exciting step forward on this front. A company of this scale and this committed to our standards sitting closer to how they are shaped sharpens our insight into what works in the ecosystem and extends the reach of every standard we publish. We are delighted to have them with us.”
